Here we have a rare Spanish advertising card, picturing silent film movie actress, Leatrice Joy. This is a Spanish advertising card for Perfumacion Astra. The rear of the card appears to announce a Max Linder Film, "Domador Por Amor". A beautiful image, this remains in fair condition showing some creasing as the scans should indicate. This vintage card measures an approximate 3" x 4-1/2".
The actress, Leatrice Joy, was born as Leatrice Joy Zeidler on November 7, 1893 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a minor stage actor who first appeared in movies for the obscure "Nola Film Company". By 1917 she would appear in Hollywood under contract to Samuel Goldwyn. She was also a favorite of Cecil B. DeMille. With a rich Southern accent, Leatrice Joy retired as an actress because of her difficulty making the transition to sound.
Leatrice Joy was married to actor John Gilbert for a short 2 years in the early 1920's. She later remarried William S. Hook. Leatrice Joy passed away on May 13, 1985 of acute anemia.
