Here we have an 8" x 10" photo of Lady Bird Johnson, with Stewart Udall, at a new playground dedication at Haines Point, Washington, D.C.. The equipment had been donated by Mrs. Diaz Ordaz of Mexico (Diaz Ordaz was the President of Mexico at the time). The original image was taken on March 8, 1967. White House photo by Robert Knudsen.

Lady Bird Johnson was born on December 22, 1912 as Claudia Alta Taylor near Karnack, Texas. She received her nickname "Lady Bird" as a small child.

In 1934 Lady Bird met Lyndon Baines Johnson, then a Congressional secretary visiting Austin on official business. They were married in November 1934.

Her husband went on to become the 36th President of the United States. When his Presidential term ended, the Johnsons returned to Texas. LBJ preceeded Lady Bird in death by 34 years. Lady Bird Johnson passed away on July 11, 2007.
