Stunning Photo Aimee Semple McPherson Foursquare Gospel Founder - B-G21-A229
Here we have an 8" x 10" black and white photo of Aimee Semple McPherson. Aimee Semple McPherson was born on October 9, 1890 as Aimee Elizabeth Kennedy, in Ontario, Canada. She met her first husband, Robert James Semple, in 1907. He was a Pentacostal Missionary and Aimee followed him on an evangelical tour which included China. Robert Semple died shortly thereafter, leaving Aimee with a daughter. While working for the Salvation Army, Aimee met her second husband, Harold Stewart McPherson, whom she married in 1912. They were divorced by 1921. By 1915, Aimee started holding tent revivals, traveling throughout Canada and the United States. Her popularity grew and she eventually settled in Los Angeles, and founded The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. "Sister Aimee", as she was known, had undergone some scandal in 1926 when she was alledgedly abducted, managing to escape 35 days later. There has always been differing speculation as to what really happened. She was initially charged with obstruction of justice, but eventually all charges were dropped and the incident subsided. In 1931, she married David Hutton, an actor, whom she ultimately divorced by 1934. Aimee Semple McPherson passed away on September 27, 1944, shortly after giving a sermon. Quality For Long Life!
