Here we have an 8" x 10" photo of Actor, Montgomery Clift with Actress Shelley Winters in a publicity still from "A Place In The Sun".Born on October 17, 1920 as Edward Montgomery Clift in Omaha, Nebraska, Montgomery Clift was a descendent of a virtual who's who of early American History. His Great Grandfather, Montgomery Blair, was the Postmaster General under President Abraham Lincoln. His Great-Great Grandfather, Francis Preston Blair, was a journalist and adviser to US President Andrew Jackson, while another Great-Great Grandfather, Levi Woodbury, was an Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court. Montgomery Clift first appeared on Broadway at the age of 13. His big Hollywood break came when he appeared with John Wayne in "Red River" (1948). An avowed homosexual, he had problems getting along with John Wayne, but the film led to a highly successful film career for Clift, including notable performances in such films as: "From Here to Eternity" (1953), "Raintree County" (1957), "Lonelyhearts" (1958), "The Young Lions" (1958) and "Judgment at Nuremberg" (1962). Montgomery Clift passed away on July 23, 1966 due to complications from drug and alcohol addiction. He was 45 years old. Shelley Winters was born as Shirley Schrift on August 18, 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri. A two-time Academy Award winning actress, she was a notable screen actress for 5 decades. She received her first Academy Award In 1959 for her role in "The Diary of Anne Frank". She was honored again in 1965 for "A Patch of Blue". Other notable appearances were made in films such as "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972), "Red River" (1948) and "Harper" (1966). She was married four times, to: Paul Meyer, Vittorio Gassman, Anthony Franciosa and Gerry DeFord. She had a reputation for rocky relationships. Besides here long career as an actress, Shelley Winters was also an accomplished writer. Shelley Winters passed away on January 14, 2006 of a heart attack. Quality For Long Life!
