Here we have an old real photo postcard of stage dancer and silent movie actress, Marguarite De La Motte. This card is in fair condition. This card has some album remnants on the rear where it was glued to an album page. There are also staple holes as the scans should indicate. Please be sure to check both images to note the damage on the rear of the card. Approximate size is 3-1/2" x 5-1/4".
Marguarite De La Motte was born on June 22, 1902 in Duluth, Minnesota. She studied Ballet under the Anna Pavlova and was soon a feature attraction at Sid Grauman's theatre. Her parents killed in a car crash, Producer J.L. Frothingham became her guardian at about the time of her debut as a movie actress in 1918.
A stunning looking actress, Marguarite De La Motte was popular during the silent movie era, but did not adapt well to sound. She continued to work in minor, less frequent, roles.
Marguarite De La Motte was married to, and divorced from, movie actor John Bowers. Sadly, Marguarite De La Motte passed away from cerebral thrombosis on March 10, 1950. She was only 48 years old.
