From our entertainment memorabilia holdings, here we have a vintage postcard of band leader, radio star and actor, Ozzie Nelson. A great image, this card remains in very good overall condition and measures an approximate 3-1/2" x 5-1/2". His signature is clipped at the left edge which is how this was manufactured, the card has not been trimmed. This is a Mutoscope card.
Band leader and actor, Ozzie Nelson, was born on March 20, 1906 in Jersey City, New Jersey. With many accomplishments in life, including achieving Eagle Scout and a Rutgers graduate, he turned to a music career to beat the great depression. By the mid 1930's, the Ozzie Nelson Band became prolific recording artists. In the 1940's, Ozzie Nelson, with wife Harriet and their two sons, would become radio personalities with their show, "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet". The show would ultimately move to television, making the Nelson family an entertainment mainstay of the 1940's and 50's..
Ozzie Nelson was married once, to singer and actress Harriet. Their sons, David and Eric (Ricky), were both actors. Their son, Ricky Nelson, became an extremely popular recording star until his untimely death.
Ozzie Nelson passed away on June 3, 1975 from cancer. The recording star and radio personality, turned actor, left a legacy of being one of the most popular sitcom dads in early radio and television.
