Here we have a vintage publicity photo of silent movie actor, Harold Lockwood. This is one of a series of sepia tone prints produced by The Water Color Co. of New York in the mid-teens. Vintage, this is on average weight paper-stock, not the usual studio photo paper. The autograph is part of the print. This measures an approximate 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" and remains in extremely good condition, with a small crease at the bottom left corner. Again, this is a vintage, or period, print.
The actor, Harold Lockwood, was born on April 12, 1887 in Newark, New Jersey. With an early interest in acting, Harold Lockwood would work several years in Vaudeville. He would first appear on film in 1911. By 1913 the actor would have a contract with Selig, and start appearing as a leading man in the movies. He would ultimately be teamed up with actress May Allison at the Flying A, for a series of 22 consecutive romantic features.
Harold Lockwood was married to actress Alma Lockwood. Their son, Harold Lockwood Jr., was also a minor actor.
