Here we have a rare spanish advertising card picturing the stage and movie actor, Monroe Salisbury. A great image, this remains in fair overall condition showing some very slight foxing as the scans should show. A torn corner, and some older creasing is obvious from the scans. This vintage card measures an approximate 3" x 4-1/2".
The actor, Monroe Salisbury, was born on May 8, 1876 in Angola, Indiana. A Yale graduate, he decided on a career as an actor and established himself as a credible stage performer before entering films in 1913. For the next decade, Monroe Salisbury would prove to be a popular and credible movie actor, but the films would be few after 1920.
Monroe Salisbury never married. The actor passed away on August 6, 1935 due to injuries received from a fractured skull. He had been admitted into an insane asylum a month earlier, though we've never been able to ascertain if that was due to his head injury or if he fell while at the asylum.
