Here we have a rare spanish advertising card picturing the movie actor, Robert Montgomery. A great image, this remains in good overall condition showing some older creasing, and a small tear at the left border. This vintage card measures an approximate 2-3/4" x 3-3/4". The actor, Robert Montgomery, was born on May 21, 1904, in Beacon, New York. He attempted an acting career in New York and wound up performing on stage with George Cukor, the future movie director, which led to his first Hollywood film, "So This Is College" (1929). He would then be chosen as leading man, opposite to Norma Shearer, in "Private Lives" (1931), which would establish him as a credible and very popular movie actor. His career in entertainment would last another 30 years during which time he would appear in film, television and radio.
Robert Montgomery was President of the Screen Actors Guild twice. He was also a decorated Lieutenant Commander after service in the US Navy during World War II.
Robert Montgomery had a 22 year marriage to Elizabeth Bryan Allen which ended in divorce in 1950. Their daughter, Elizabeth Montgomery, would become an actress with an extremely popular following of her own. After the divorce, Robert Montgomery married Elizabeth "Buffy" Grant Harkness.
